Find More Emails Than LeadMagic, for Less

LeadMagic (leadmagic.io) is a popular Clay and Apollo enrichment step that charges $8.49 to $25 per 1,000 found emails on a monthly subscription. On the same 288 contacts, every result re-verified live, OrbiSearch found 79.2% to LeadMagic's 47.9%, at $1.28 to $18.94 per 1,000 found on credits that never expire. Every email OrbiSearch returns is already verified, so nothing needs a second pass.

Why teams move their email step from LeadMagic to OrbiSearch

A third more of the list, found

Same 288 contacts, same live re-verification: OrbiSearch 79.2%, LeadMagic 47.9%. LeadMagic returned 50.0% before verification, so about one in 24 of the emails it handed back did not verify. OrbiSearch results are verified before they are returned.

Credits you keep, not a subscription

LeadMagic's credits are monthly: Basic credits lapse at month end and higher plans bank at most two months. OrbiSearch sells one-time packs that never expire, plus unlimited finder plans for teams, and is cheaper per found email on every pack.

Almost nothing left for LeadMagic to add

OrbiSearch alone found 79.2% of the benchmark; OrbiSearch and LeadMagic together found 80.6%. A 1.4-point gain rarely justifies a second subscription. Open this scenario in our waterfall calculator and edit any number.

Find rate, head to head

Both tools were run on the same 288 real B2B contacts in August 2026, alongside Apollo, Hunter, Icypeas, Prospeo and People Data Labs. Every returned address was re-verified live at benchmark time, so these are deliverable emails, not source-sheet hits.

The gap is coverage, not accuracy: LeadMagic's returned emails mostly verify, it simply returns them for half as many contacts. Per-contact outcomes are in the benchmark download.

On 10,000 contacts a month

LeadMagic at its benchmark 47.9% find rate on the Essential plan (the cheapest whose credits cover the result), OrbiSearch at 79.2% on the 100,000-search pack. Our waterfall calculator lets you change every input.

LeadMagic alone

~4,790 emails

for $99 a month

10,000 contacts × 47.9% = 4,790 credits, inside Essential's 5,000. About $0.021 per found email; the 210 unused credits bank for two months.

OrbiSearch

~7,920 emails

for about $21

10,000 searches × $0.00207 = $20.70 from the Enterprise pack, 65% more emails for 79% less. About $0.0026 per found email. Adding LeadMagic on the 2,080 left would find about 140 more.

OrbiSearch: 1 credit per search, converted at 79.2% found; the Unlimited Starter row assumes the full 10,000 searches per day for a month. Prices checked September 2026.

Email verification pricing comparison

Both tools verify what they find, so this only matters for lists from anywhere else. LeadMagic charges 0.25 credits per valid or invalid result, which is $0.0021 to $0.00625 depending on plan; the table uses the $0.002 rate its product page advertises. OrbiSearch: one-time packs, 1 credit = 5 validations.

The $0.002 rate needs LeadMagic's $849-a-month Ultimate plan; on Basic the same checks cost three times as much. Unresolved catch-alls come back from LeadMagic as 'unknown' at no charge, per its API docs. OrbiSearch resolves catch-all, secure-email-gateway and greylisted addresses to a verdict; it stopped 96.3% of bounces on a 538 hard-bounce test with a 3.7% false positive rate. Enriching millions of contacts?

OrbiSearch offers private dedicated infrastructure with white glove support for customers on the 5M and 10M packs: no queues, no file splitting, and we handle data cleaning and quality monitoring. LeadMagic's Enterprise plans start at $2,490 per quarter with a shared 25+ requests-per-second gateway.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do teams switch from LeadMagic to OrbiSearch?

Two reasons that compound. Find rate: on the same 288 B2B contacts, every result re-verified live, OrbiSearch found 79.2% and LeadMagic 47.9%, so a LeadMagic-only list is missing roughly a third of the emails OrbiSearch would return. Cost: LeadMagic charges $8.49 to $25 per 1,000 found emails on a monthly subscription whose credits lapse, while OrbiSearch works out at $1.28 to $18.94 per 1,000 found on one-time packs that never expire, or about $1.05 on an unlimited plan. Teams that need mobile numbers, a contact database or job-change alerts keep LeadMagic for those; for work emails, OrbiSearch replaces it rather than sitting beside it.

How much does LeadMagic cost?

LeadMagic sells monthly credit subscriptions: Basic $49.99 for 2,000 credits, Essential $99 for 5,000, Growth $249 for 20,000, Professional $499 for 50,000, Ultimate $849 for 100,000, and Enterprise from $2,490 per quarter. Annual billing is ten times the monthly price, so two months free. That is $0.025 down to $0.0085 per credit. A found work email costs 1 credit, an email validation 0.25 credits, a mobile number 5, a profile or company search 1, a social-to-email lookup 5, and a job-change check 3. Credits are only spent on successful results. Basic credits do not roll over; higher plans bank up to two months. Prices checked on leadmagic.io/pricing in September 2026.

What is LeadMagic?

LeadMagic (leadmagic.io) is a Boston-based B2B data API founded by Jesse Ouellette in 2022. It sells an email finder, email validation, a mobile number finder, people, company and jobs search over its own database, company enrichment and job-change detection, all from one credit pool, and is best known as a native enrichment provider inside Clay and Apollo waterfalls. It ships a REST API on every plan, a hosted MCP server and a terminal client.

Is OrbiSearch a LeadMagic alternative?

For finding and verifying work emails, yes, and a direct one: both tools take a name and a company domain and return a verified work email, both charge per unit with no seat fees, and both offer standalone validation. OrbiSearch finds more (79.2% against 47.9% on the same contacts) for less, and sells credits that never expire instead of a subscription. It is not a LeadMagic alternative for mobile numbers, database search or firmographic enrichment, which OrbiSearch does not offer.

How does OrbiSearch compare to LeadMagic on find rate?

In our August 2026 benchmark of 7 email finders on 288 real B2B contacts across North America, EMEA and APAC, LeadMagic returned an email for 50.0% of contacts, of which 47.9% verified live; OrbiSearch returned 79.2%, all live-verified. By region, LeadMagic scored 45.3% in North America, 55.6% in EMEA and 42.6% in APAC, against OrbiSearch's 79.2% overall. The full per-contact data is downloadable from orbisearch.com/research/email-finder-benchmark.

Should I run LeadMagic after OrbiSearch in a waterfall?

Usually not for emails. On the benchmark, OrbiSearch alone found 79.2% of contacts and OrbiSearch plus LeadMagic together found 80.6%, so LeadMagic adds about 1.4 points on top of OrbiSearch: on 10,000 contacts that is roughly 140 extra emails for a $49.99-a-month minimum subscription. If you already pay for LeadMagic for mobiles or database search, it costs nothing extra to leave it as the last email step. If not, a broader aggregator such as FullEnrich adds more on the remainder. Our waterfall calculator at orbisearch.com/tools/waterfall-calculator models any combination.

Does LeadMagic charge for emails it cannot find?

No. LeadMagic only deducts a credit when it returns a valid email, and validation only charges for a definitive valid or invalid result. OrbiSearch charges 1 credit per finder search regardless of outcome, which is why it is priced at a fraction of a cent per search and why the comparison above converts it to cost per found email at its 79.2% benchmark rate. Even after that conversion OrbiSearch is cheaper on every pack from 2,000 searches up.

How does LeadMagic handle catch-all emails?

LeadMagic's product pages say catch-alls are 'resolved to Valid or Invalid, never returned as a status'. Its API documentation is narrower: when a domain accepts mail for any address and LeadMagic cannot individually verify the mailbox, the validation result is 'unknown' (free) and it suggests routing those addresses through the email finder instead. So the three statuses are valid, invalid and unknown, and unresolved catch-alls land in unknown. OrbiSearch resolves catch-all, secure-email-gateway and greylisted addresses to a valid or invalid verdict; on our 538 hard-bounce test it stopped 96.3% of bounces with a 3.7% false positive rate.

Do OrbiSearch found emails need re-verifying?

No. Every email the OrbiSearch finder returns has already been through the OrbiSearch validation engine, including catch-all, secure-email-gateway and greylisted resolution, so it is safe to send as returned. LeadMagic likewise verifies during lookup and its help centre warns against chaining its validator on finder results. Where they differ is what happens to a list from anywhere else: OrbiSearch validation costs $0.0002 to $0.003 per email on one-time packs, LeadMagic $0.0021 to $0.00625 per definitive result on a subscription.

Does OrbiSearch find phone numbers?

No. OrbiSearch finds and verifies work emails only. LeadMagic finds mobile numbers at 5 credits each and also offers people, company and jobs search, company enrichment and job-change detection, which is why teams that need those keep a LeadMagic plan alongside OrbiSearch.
